5th Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish
Appointed by Archbishop Lori
May 23, 2020
Dear IHM Parishioners,
It is my pleasure and privilege to announce that Archbishop William E. Lori has appointed Rev. Jeffery S. Dauses to serve as the 5th Pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, effective July 1, 2020. Since 2011, Fr. Jeff has served as Pastor of St. Andrew by the Bay Parish in Annapolis. We are overjoyed to welcome Fr. Jeff and grateful to Archbishop Lori for giving us our next shepherd.
A native of Baltimore and the Shrine of the Little Flower, Fr. Jeff entered high school seminary at St. Fidelis Seminary in Herman, Pennsylvania and completed college seminary at Borromeo College of Ohio in Cleveland. Afterward he attended St. Mary’s Seminary & University in Baltimore and was ordained to the priesthood by William Cardinal Keeler in 1990. He served as Associate Pastor at St. Louis, Clarksville from 1990-1997 and at St. Margaret, Bel Air from 1997-1999. In 1999 he was appointed Pastor of the Catholic Community of St. Francis Xavier, Hunt Valley, where he served until being transferred to the Church of the Holy Apostles, Gambrills, which he pastored from 2005 until 2008. Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien then named Fr. Jeff as Rector of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Baltimore, where he served until being appointed Administrator of St. Timothy, Walkersville in 2010. In 2011, he was made Pastor of St. Andrew by the Bay, Annapolis. In all, Fr. Jeff brings 30 years of priestly experience to his new ministry at Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Personally, I have known Fr. Jeff for many years, and I have every confidence that he will lead this parish with great pastoral love.
With regard to public Masses, we do not know when this will be possible. The Archdiocese of Baltimore plans to resume public Masses in some parishes on the weekend of May 30/31, but this depends on the local county or Baltimore City restrictions. At this time, Baltimore County has not given any indication as to when indoor religious gatherings of more than 10 people will be allowed. Until then and after, we will continue to broadcast Mass on Facebook and YouTube, including at 9:00am this Monday for Memorial Day.
Christ promised not to leave us orphans, and he has fulfilled his promise in giving us a new pastor. Let us thank the Lord for his care for us; and let us assure Fr. Jeff and the people of St. Andrew’s of our prayers during this time of transition.
